Some Cat Notes

Okay, I just wanted to throw a couple of quick pictures regarding our two cats, Rune and Chiral.

Recently, we decided to pick up a leash and harness for the girls so that they could take short jaunts outside with us without me or Kate having to chase after them or worry about them bolting or whatever. Well, Rune has never been terribly fond of the outside world so she didn't take well to the leash. On the other hand, Chiral decided this was the best thing ever! The only problem is that we don't always let her go explore where she'd like to. :-)

And here Rune looks on with a degree of concern, convinced that no good will come of letting cats wander outside. ;-)



Secondly, I just wanted to share this small bit. Since it's the summer, the cats are shedding like crazy. To help alleviate this problem, Kate and I are trying to remember to brush the two girls whenever we get the chance. I recently sat Rune down to brush her...and ended up with a ball of fluff the size of her head!



Of course, Rune was not amused by the whole thing. :-)

Mini-Golf at Fort Fun

So...while Kate was visiting with Dana down in Florida, she got it into her head that she enjoyed playing mini-golf. I've been promising her for months that we'd find time to get the gang together and go out for a game sometime. The only spot that I knew of was the mini-golf courses at Fort Fun, a local activity center.

We gave it a go on Wednesday evening after Bill got off of work....and had a blast! We were none of us particularly great at the game so no one felt particularly self concious about their performance. Most of us still managed par or one over par on the majority of holes. Bill and Kate both managed a couple of holes in one. My moment of the night was sending the ball out of the playing area and bouncing it into the water nearby. :-/ Oops.

We're pretty sure we're going to have to do this again. If for no other reason then I have to beat Bill at this game. :-) Although we may have to try Laser Tag as well. And maybe the Mini-Bowling. Yeah, we'll be back. :-)

Visit Last Weekend

Okay, a little slow on the updates again. I'm going to try out the scheduled posting thing and go ahead and write up a couple of updates today. We'll see how it works out. :-)

This post I wanted to share some pictures of my Mom, my sister, and my nephew's visit with me and Kate last weekend. They weren't able to stay really long but it was great to see them anyway. They came up on Friday night - which unfortunately was when we'd planned to have our monthly Library Game Night. It turned out not to be a problem, though. Dianna joined us for the gathering while Mom watched over Everest back at the hotel. We managed to get in two (count 'em, TWO) games during the evening, namely Apples to Apples and Wise and Otherwise. A couple of our guests had to leave a little early but a couple of us nonetheless managed to stay up later than we should have. Stil, a good time appeared to have been had by all.

The next day (Saturday) Dianna and Mom brought Everest over to our place. We chatted and let Everest play with some toys we keep upstairs. Everest seemed to enjoy himself quite bit.





My Dad gave us a call that morning to chat for a bit so Everest got to talk to his grandpa a little too.



Afterwards, we headed out to Old Town Fort Collins for lunch. On Dianna's suggestion, we went to Hu Hot, a popular Mongolian grill style restaurant there in Old Town. It's one of my favorites and I'm glad that Mom and Dianna enjoyed themselves too.






After lunch, we wandered around Old Town for a little while. There was a jazz music event going on as well as a big sidewalk sale for most of the downtown stores so we definitely wandered and browsed for a bit. Then we stopped for some dessert at Gelazzi, the gelato shop in Old Town.








After Gelazzi, Mom and Dianna decided to head back home so that they wouldn't be getting in too late. Kate and I kicked back for the rest of the night with a game of Lego Indiana Jones. :-)

It was a lot of fun! Thank to Mom and Dianna for making time for the visit!
